How Cindy Works
Each piece Cindy creates begins with an intentional choice of medium—whether oils, acrylics, cold wax, encaustics, or the camera lens. Her approach is rooted in experimentation: layering, scraping, blending, and reworking surfaces until the artwork feels alive.
Cindy draws from a personal archive of over 10,000 photographs, using them as both reference and catalyst. Rather than relying on digital tools, she builds by hand, combining textures, colors, and materials to capture the spirit of a moment. This process invites chance and discovery, allowing ordinary details—like shifting light or subtle movement—to become extraordinary on the canvas.
For commissioned work, Cindy takes the same hands-on approach, engaging with clients to understand the story behind their images and transforming those memories into tangible works of art.

community recognition
Cindy’s artwork is not only admired in galleries and private collections, but it has also been recognized in the broader community. Most recently, she earned Second Place in the Port of Leonardtown Winery’s Catch the Swirl Contest, where local artists were invited to submit original designs. While only the winning artwork was featured on the wine bottle label, placing second is a testament to Cindy’s talent and vision.
This recognition highlights her ability to create art that resonates beyond the canvas—celebrating her creativity while shining a light on the vibrant artistic community here in Southern Maryland.
